RIP Barbara Douglas

I was very fortunate to have played a couple dozen rounds with Barbara when she was an IBM exec, before she became the USGA official.  We got to play many great courses, private and resort, in Florida and California.  She was usually my partner as we played against Mike Smith or Dave Stockton and another IBMer.  At times I felt like the team that plays the Harlem Globetrotters every night.  We played several courses where she probably was the first woman player “keep your cap on and don’t ask the starter where the women’s tees are”.  Barbara went on to become a great representative of her race and her sex with the USGA.

Barbara, I hope you pick MOE in your matches against SEVE and GEORGE !      RIP.
