A tip of the hat today to all the fine folks at Cabot Links as they open to the public for the very first time for preview rounds at their new seaside links in Inverness Nova Scotia.
A realization of a dream for Ben Cowan-Dewar and Mike Keiser who will both be on hand to greet golfers as they partake in a game on opening day at the much anticipated course. The opening will be accompanied by celebrations including a barbeque and live music which should make for a memorable and spirited day for all in attendance.
The course opens today with a 10 hole loop with the remaining holes set to be ready in time for the start of the 2012 golf season. (see opening day scorecard at right) Highlights will include the short par-3 6th – a `Pebble Beach-esque` one-shotter straight at the ocean to an infinity green. As well as the two ocean side par-4s in 7 and 8 (eventually will be 15th and 16th holes) which have a great chance to become two of the greatest par-4s in the country and a true testament to the links style of golf Cabot will become known for.
Unseasonably cold weather on the east coast this spring affected growing conditions and pushed back Cabot’s original Canada Day opening to today, but having seen the course in a preview round earlier this month I can attest that it will certainly be worth the wait.
All the best on your opening and we`re excited to see what this will do for the game of golf in Atlantic Canada.
