That is because you don’t have your focus where it needs to be: Towards the real target out there where you want your ball to go with a very defined flight. If you are not locked into a target, then you force the ball to become the target; that is like getting into your car and not knowing where you want to go next; until you make that decision you are simply in idle in the parking lot!
