Globe Outs Score: Top 100 List Hits Paper

The 18th at the National

I was meaning to write a teaser for SCOREGolf’s Top 100 courses in Canada issue that hits the streets on Aug. 30, largely because a week ago I taped the television special that will air on TSN on Aug. 29 to accompany the magazine.

Anyway, there was a bit of a mix-up and some of the Top 100 magazines were sent to subscribers, including, apparently, the Globe and Mail (I got my copy as well). This morning there was a short hit on the Top 100, announcing the top courses, which shouldn’t come as any great surprise. I’m not going into the whole list — I’ll leave that for SCORE’s website and the television program, but since the cat is officially out of the bag given the Globe article, it is worth noting the Top 3, which is all the Globe disclosed:

1) The National

2) Hamilton G&CC

3) St. George’s G&CC

That didn’t match my list — as I didn’t have the National in my Top 5. Instead I had Highlands Links at No. 1, followed by St. George’s and Hamilton.

I’m not going to give away any more — watch the show on TSN on Aug. 29 where Bob Weeks, Jason Logan and myself run through the list. There will also be some web features on the ranking on SCOREGolf.com.

There are some changes to the list this year, including some interesting new additions (one of which made me quite pleased), as well as a couple of big moves by private clubs. Of course there are still some I think are rated too highly, but I’ll offer my opinions in a week’s time.
