Tiger Woods’ press conference today at the US Open captured the reporters’ interest — not that he had much to say.
Apparently questions about his soon to be ex-wife, the potential of a massive divorce settlement and anything else along those lines are out of bounds:
Woods said despite lacklustre results since returning from a five-month absence, his golf was improving. He would not shed light on prospects for reconciliation with his wife, Elin.
“That’s none of your business,” he told a reporter.
Despite that, Woods says his game isn’t in bad shape:
He said the feel, however, was returning to his game.
“I only had a few weeks to get ready for Augusta after being off for quite a while. Now I’ve been playing tournament golf basically since April,” Woods said.
“I’m starting to find out how much I can and can’t push myself each and every day as far as practice. I overdid it, overcooked it right before Augusta, trying to get ready.”
Thoughts? I say he makes the cut and contends. Source.
This week will come down to Tiger’s ability to put the ball in play off the tee and to make a few putts from 15+ plus if he wants to contend. He said after the Memorial he was shaping the ball beautifully from right to left but was having troubles with the cut shot which he will need to hit a lot of this week.
Tiger is right, the stuff with Elin is none of anyone’s business. I have no idea why that reporter asked that question. Apparently, a heckler at Pebble Beach shouted at Tiger yesterday “It is our business Tiger, because you made it our business”. Really? I am not excusing his off-course behavior because we all know its dead wrong. But he never made it our business. The media did.
