Haney Resigns as Woods' Swing Coach

Adding to the odd rumor last week that Canadian Sean Foley was poised to take over as swing coach to Tiger Woods comes the news last night that Hank Haney, Woods’ current coach, has resigned:

Tiger Woods’ longtime swing coach resigned Monday night, leaving the world’s No. 1 player without one of his top advisers as he tries to rebuild his game.

Hank Haney said in a statement to the Golf Channel that he enjoyed working with Woods but he thinks it’s time for him to step aside as his coach.

“I will always look back upon our past half-dozen years together as my best days in professional golf,” he said. “It would be a dream of any coach to have a student like Tiger Woods and for me it has come true. Just so there is no confusion I would like to make it clear that this is my decision.

Last week Foley took the odd step of issuing a press statement saying he hadn’t been talking with Woods about working with the No. 1 golfer in the world.

  • Maybe he has been watching the nine zillion commercials on the golf channel about stack and tilt?

    “You gotta try this swing”

Can’t wait to see who he ends up with!!!

  • Does the old expression “where there’s smoke there is fire” come into play here? I wouldn’t be suprised in the announcement that Foley is now working with Tiger is eminent. May just be delayed due to the latest Tiger injury…..

Is it just me or is Tiger getting a lot of bad karma??
