David McLay Kidd's Bandon Dunes
I visited Bandon Dunes Resort in June 2004, just a couple of months before my daughter was born. I purchased a child’s Bandon Dunes hat, with the distinctive puffin logo, and both Sydney and my son, Liam, wore it at various times.
Is Bandon Dunes the best golf resort in the world? I have a hard time thinking of a better one. I’ve looked forward to returning for years — and will do so this April. I’ll get a chance to play the first 10 holes at Old Macdonald, the latest course to be built at Bandon, and one scheduled to open officially months from now.
In th meantime, head to our travel section to read a feature I wrote about the resort.
RT… think your caption on the photo here is incorrect. pretty sure the much maligned 6th @ BD. If you’re looking to get into Doak’s good books, i wouldn’t confuse ANYTHING about BD with PD, or OM.
Just sayin.
I think phil is right.
That being said, RT is also right. Bandon has no rivals. I go every year faithfully, and have little desire to explore further in the US. The courses, atmosphere and value are beyond compare. I won’t drop $450 to play a 5.5 hour round at Pebble.
