Today’s National Post has a column focusing on Bryan DeCorso and David Hearn, both on the bubble on the Nationwide Tour. You can find it here.
Here’s a taste:
For most of the year, Nationwide Tour player Bryan DeCorso has looked assured of a spot on the PGA Tour, while David Hearn has spent the summer trying to get himself into a similar position.
And with four tournaments left on the Nationwide schedule, DeCorso and Hearn do find themselves in the same situation, except DeCorso has joined Hearn on the outside looking in.
The top 25 golfers on the money list that are guaranteed their PGA Tour card for 2009, bypassing December’s gruelling qualifying school.
For DeCorso, who hails from Guelph, but now lives in Florida, it is a tough pill to swallow. The journeyman had actually bailed out of the game for a period to work as an announcer for The Golf Channel and then spent some time in construction. But he made a couple of swing changes in late April and won the South Georgia Classic in commanding fashion. That win moved him well up the money list. If he played even passably for the remainder of the year, DeCorso had a strong chance at finding himself on the PGA Tour.
