Tarandowah Searching for Financing

Tarandowah 18

Tarandowah Golfers Club, the intriguing faux-links about a half-hour from London, Ont. that was designed by Martin Hawtree, has an add in the Report on Business looking for a “partner.”

Here’s the entire ad:

Golf Course – World class architect , nominated for best new course in Canada, seeking partner. info@puregolf.net.

Interesting that Tarandowah is still looking for cash, since owner/operator Bryan Row, told me last week the club’s financial situation was largely stabilized. Last year the Row family brought in outside investors, which was apparently a dismal failure. And the club has struggled financially since it was conceived.

Too bad, because it is a great golf course. Hate to see this one go into receivership, but one golf course financier told me recently that he had credit watch reports on a dozen courses he was doing business with, the largest number he’d ever been concerned about. Tarandowah isn’t working with the fellow in question, but perhaps a wet spring has raised concerns about financing with the Row family once again.

Update: I received a call from a representative from the family who said Bryan Row is simply trying to get some equity out of the course due to an illness in the family. The course is not for sale, the spokesman said, but the family is hoping to get some capital out of the project. Sounds like Tarandowah and the Row family are sticking around.

  • I agree it would be a shame if something happened to the course. It is a fantastic links course in the middle of SWO. And definately the best deal going for a great round!

    • That is a great golf course, however some family members ran off to many members and away to many public players, they should a been fired years ago, they have no idea how to deal with the public in general,

  • What family member is ill? Karl Row, the owner was ill but not now.Bryan was looking to create aclubhouse last spring and a death in the family of Gretta Row founder of Badger Farm Equipment. The family land passed to Sharon/Karl Row in the 1960’s has been divided and rezoned to allow the land to be protected for other generations including the grandchildren. Bryan Row has never owned that land to my knowledge. Let’s play golf. Let dad’s dream come alive for generation’s to come.
