Sitting in my office this morning and decided the only fair way to determine the winner and runner-up of my book contest was to have my three-year old daughter, Sydney, randomly pick numbers, and I’d match that number to the entry list.
Well, she did just that, picking #1 and #23. Who says it isn’t good to read G4G right away? So the grand prize winner of the golf for two at Eagles Nest, a signed book and lunch is …..
Drum roll please.
Dan wrote a nice note about his experience with then Calgary Mayor Ralph Klein:
As a kid growing up in Calgary during the 80s, my grandfather and I regularly went on fishing trips north of Edmonton. On a fishing trips to Lac la Biche, we were a few days into the trip, and early one morning a giant fishing boat (relative to our aluminum boat) strolled into the campsite next to us. Later that morning, I went over to take a closer look at the boat and from the other side, a commanding voice surprised me by asking what I was up to. Somewhat startled by the voice, I sheepishly explained that I admired the boat. After some discussion, he invited me to go fishing with him on the boat later in the day. My grandfather sceptically joined me and was surprised to learn that we were just invited to go fishing by the (then) Mayor of Calgary, Ralph Klein. Although I wasn’t impressed at the time of his stature, I will always remember his demeanour and presence that he carried. …now, as a passionate golfer I am curious to hear about how he approaches the game.
Dan — you know where to find me to set up the game. Looking forward to it!
The winners of books (and I added one to the list, so there are now three winners all told) are … Paul Nikkel (who wants to know more about Jim Balsillie) and Gord Wade (who was intrigued by Eugene Melnyk)!
I’ll send everyone a note confirming their prizes and making sure I have their addresses straight.
Congrats to the winners and thanks to the nearly 100 people who entered. It was G4G’s biggest response to a contest yet.
