Geosign's Golf Connection

The Financial Post Business Magazine appears today in the National Post and I wrote the cover story, a piece about Guelph-based upstart Geosign, which inked a deal worth $160 million in financing last year, but now no longer exists.

What’s the golf connection? The company own(ed?) Golfcourses.com and hired veteran golf writer John Gordon (who is apparently back blogging here) to run the show.

Under the headline of “Blown Away,” the story’s deck tells the tale:

A record $160-million VC investment. A rich Web strategy. A quirky founder. For a few weeks last spring, Guelph, Ont.s Geosign had it all. Then mighty Google stirred. And it was over.

The entire story can be found online here.

  • Good afternoon Robert,

I used to work for JG at Golfcourses.com, then the axe came for me too.
Would it be possible for you to send me a copy of that article you wrote for the FP mag? I followed the link you have, but the story has been taken down.

    Thanks,
    Kean Doherty
