Even though a bout with the flu knocked Mike Weir off the course last week in San Diego, it hasn’t done anything to detract from the confidence he takes into his golf season.

Weir’s illness set him back for a couple of days and forced him to withdraw from last week’s Buick Invitational after nine holes, but he is so pleased with the current state of his game that he’s playing again this week, adding the FBR Open to his schedule at the last minute.

“I was chomping at the bit to play, even though it means being out four weeks in a row,” Weir said Monday. “Things are going well and I want to play. I’m ready to go.”
