New NatPost Column: Pressure on Weir at PresCup

My latest National Post column is now online.

Here’s a taste:

Canada’s greatest golfer heads to Quebec next week to join the international team for the Presidents Cup. Which Mike Weir will actually show up at Royal Montreal, though? Will it be the 2003 Masters champ, who brings a strong 8-6-0 record into the event and has been a great team leader? Or will it be the struggling left-hander, who has had a difficult time putting four convincing rounds together for the past two years?

There’s surely a lot of pressure on Weir. Now ranked 45th in the world, his is the second lowest ranking on either team (Lucas Glover of the U.S. is ranked 60th.)Weir’s nationality was the driving factor that led international team captain Gary Player to pick him. Expectations of him will thus be varied.
