Jim McKenny Nails First Hole In One with Element 21

Former Toronto Maple Leaf and current CITY TV sportscaster Jim McKenny jarred his first ever hole in one last Thursday, May 17. The shot heard around Etobicoke happened at #8 at Weston Golf Club in Toronto.

“I hit a flush nine iron and thought the ball had gone over the green,” says McKenny. “To be honest, at that point I’d rather have hit a 10 foot putt. I had started double-double and was already 8 over. It was horrible. Even with a hole in one I shot an 83 and I’m a 7 handicap!”

The 8th at Weston is an uphill 132 yard play. “You don’t even see the ball until you get up there.”

That 9 iron Mckenny had in his hands was an Element 21 club. E21 is the Toronto based company that sponsored the Russian astronaut to hit a golf ball off the space station a few months ago. Jim has had these clubs for months and has been raving how they have given him extra distance (like he needs it!). I’ve heard from others that E21 irons immediatly add 10 yards to your ball.

We are going to try and get our hands on some on these clubs soon and do a test just for you! In the meantime, let’s raise a drink to Mckenny’s hole in one!
