ClubLink acquires Eagle Creek near Ottawa

Eagle Creek, ostensibly designed by Ken Venturi for the Ottawa [photopress:eagle_creek.jpg,full,alignright]market, has been acquired by ClubLink, according to a report in the Ottawa Citizen. The course, which was private, but has struggled in the golf-rich Ottawa market, will be taken private, reports say. I must admit that is clearly the ClubLink model, so it would make sense.

This comes from the Citizen:

Current owner Andre Lacasse said yesterday he couldn’t comment on the matter because he had signed a confidentiality agreement with ClubLink, whose members have exclusive access to its 36 clubs in Ontario and Quebec.

“I can’t talk,” Lacasse said. “I can’t say anything.”

Why didn’t he just say: “Yes, ClubLink bought us,” really loudly because by saying he signed a confidentiality agreement he might as well have said he’d sold the course. Oh, and he might also have violated his confidentiality agreement by saying he’d signed one. And so on, and so on…

According to reports, the sale price was $8 million.
