National Post column: Mike Weir

My column on Mike Weir ran in the National Post today, a day later then expected.

Here’s a taste:

For Mike Weir, the past few months have been about focus — on his game, his swing and his mind. He’s working hard to put his 2006 season, a year in which he failed to record a single win because of Sunday stumbles, behind him.

The new focus is designed to improve his game and allow the Canadian to take his place once again among the top golfers in the world. And with the help of two new swing doctors, Weir thinks he can remove his difficult final rounds — where he averaged over par last year — and set his sights back on wins.

“You’d be surprised what’s been going on in my head when I’ve won in the past,” said Weir in an interview with the National Post from Phoenix, where shot a one-under par 70 yesterday at the FBR Open. “I?m looking to fix a lot of things for the long term, many of which I’ve been thinking about for some time.”

The entire column can be found online here.
