No Golf Channel for the pros

Geoff Shackelford had an interesting post on his blog today about Brandt Snedeker, first round leader at the Buick Invitational and the fact he couldn’t actually see highlights on Thursday’s play because his hotel didn’t get the Golf Channel.

Snedeker: I don’t get the GOLF CHANNEL so I didn’t see any of it. They said, give me play-by-play, and it’s like, I was out there — (laughter).

Interestingly, that was my experience at Fairmont’s property at Mayakoba, where they’ll host the Mayakoba Golf Classic. The Fairmont was a remarkable resort with great service, rooms and aesthetics, and the golf course was good, but one thing it didn’t have was (drum roll please…) the Golf Channel. I pointed that out to the management and they said they would get it added for the week of the tournament. I guess the PGA Tour staffers on site aren’t staying at the Fairmont, or I’m sure they’d have already noticed this oversight.
