Here’s some stories around the Web worth checking out.

Who knew Notah Begay was still playing, let alone testing the waters on the European Tour? I hope he does well. Lawrence Donegan’s story on Begay is here.

Who put the WD in JD? Seve, that’s who. Apparently the great British Open and Masters champ is going to play more in 2007, which of course means withdrawing more than teenagers making it in the back of a car. The story on his vaunted comeback is here.

Rick Young on Score hands out awards for the best equipment of the year. My best gear — the wedges I received from TaylorMade with the new ProjectX shafts. Remarkably good. Oh, and the new Reelfit shoes from Footjoy.

Who is building golf courses? Native Americans, that’s who, and they are building them to go along with their casinos. In Canada, Dakota Dunes is one such course — the casino just hasn’t come online yet. But when it does there’ll be no stopping Saskatoon, baby!

Distraught over the death of his wife, Darren Clarke broke down in tears following the Ryder Cup. Well, four months later Clarke has a new girlfriend. Not that there is anything wrong about this, but it somehow leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

The Toronto Star gives Always Fresh a nice review.

Golf Mag interviews Byron Nelson just weeks before his death.

Lastly, seeing as Wednesday is supposed to be seven degrees and cloudy, I’m off to play golf as part of a last minute invite at a private club that is still open. Part of it is research, and part is pure enjoyment. Either way, I’m looking forward to it — the weather will be just like Scotland.

  • Hey Robert how did your round go? Which nine(s) did you play? Hopefully not #1 given the state of the first fairway. Didn’t see you there but then again my “research” mtg was in the boardroom not outside.

    Cheers, Dave

PS Sorry I will be missing the 21st gathering. Hopefully next time.

  • Regarding Darren Clarke, I’ve noticed that it is those with the happy marriages that remarry soon after a loved one’s passing. The rest of us are in no big hurry.
