Winnipeg, Man. – It wasn’t easy, but Conor Zokol of South Surrey, B.C. gave his dad the best father’s day present to date. Sunday afternoon, Zokol called home from Elmhurst Golf and Country Club to let his father know he was victorious at the CN Future Links Prairie championship.

“Earlier this week I won the Vancouver City Junior Championship, but winning this on father’s day is just wild,” said the 18-year-old whose dad is legendary Canadian PGA Tour player Richard Zokol.

The newly crowned champion recently surrendered his opening-round lead at the Future Links Pacific championship held at Capilano Golf and Country club this past April, eventually finishing tied for 21st.

“I definitely learned from my mistakes at the Pacific and felt more confident this week because I had been there before,” said Zokol who reminisced on his past defeat.

A release on Connor’s success is here.
