Global Golf Post: Hadwin’s U.S. Open Hopes
This week’s Global Golf Post column focused on Adam Hadwin, who tips it up today in the U.S. Open. Does Hadwin have a chance? Probably not. He’s not played well this year, which isn’t a good sign. That said, he’s one of those rare players who seems to be able to pick himself up for more »
In Global Golf Post – Weir on Augusta: “Wow, it has been 10 years.”
I recently returned to Global Golf Post, the very cool digital magazine out of the U.S., as its Canadian columnist. The magazine is free — so check it out. This week I wrote about Mike Weir’s 10th anniversary of his Masters win. The story is here. Writing about Weir has got me thinking about how more »
Q School kicks off this week — seven Canadians in the field
My interview with Adam Hadwin a week or so ago was quite intriguing. Hadwin says he’s not trying to put too much pressure on himself as he knows he has a place to play — the Web.com Tour — regardless of whether he makes it through this week. It is an interesting way of coping more »
On Euphemisms and Euphoria…
It’s funny, sometimes, when one of life’s lessons comes up and smacks you in the face, isn’t it? You’re tooling along, minding your own business and doing nothing of great consequence, when suddenly a ten ton-figurative anvil drops on your head, a lá Wile E. Coyote. That was the case last night, when I was more »
Mongo Like Candy…and Golf
It’s a sad day in the world of entertainment today folks. Alex Karras, the actor who played “Mongo” in Blazing Saddles, died this morning. And in the spirit of the funniest movie ever made, I think they should serve up a 21-fart salute at his funeral…and then have one of the pallbearers punch out the more »
Sympatico: Discussion of Canadian Open field about who is coming, not who isn’t
My latest Sympatico column discusses the field at the Canadian Open and the fact no one seems to be raising any questions this year about who isn’t coming, and focusing on who is: For the first time in recent memory, discussion around this year’s RBC Canadian Open is about who will be at Hamilton Golf more »
Honouring One of the Game’s Best!
Wow…you insult and threaten a guy with baldness and look how well he does! (Hmmm…I wonder if I could pull the same therapy on Kevin Na to help him with that massive case of golfing Tourette Syndrome he’s developed??? It sure as hell is worth a try, don’t you think?) As my dear old Aunt more »
The Island of Doctor Dye Sade
Apparently the one thing that Rickie Fowler needed to finally step into the winner’s circle was actually three things. And, it looks like last week, when I picked Fowler to win at Quail Hollow, I stumbled across the trifecta of ingredients to pour into the witches’ brew he needed to get the job done; a more »
Canadian Golf Journalists name Hadwin, Sharp golfers of the year
The Golf Journalists Assocation of Canada today announced their players of the year. I’m not truly in agreement with Adam Hadwin getting the nod, though I understand why he’d have support. I still think it is hard to argue against David Hearn as professional of the year, though I don’t really have an issue with more »
Saturday Feature: Canada’s disappointing PGA Tour results
Symaptico launched a Saturday feature a month or two back and my second attempt has just gone live. For this one I spoke with Mike Weir, Adam Hadwin and David Hearn about the state of Canadian golf. Six PGA Tour pros from Canada started the year — only Hearn finished in the Top 125, though more »
