SCOREGolf unveiled their Top 100 Courses in Canada on TSN on Saturday, but don’t be heading to your local club in hope of picking up a copy of the magazine. This year the publication is only available on newsstands — and I’m not sure if the magazine is putting content up online. There are a ... read more »

At the Canadian Open a couple of weeks ago, I sat with Sean Foley for nearly two hours and discussed his life, his swing theories and Tiger Woods for an article I’m writing for next year. I then spoke with Stephen Ames, Hunter Mahan, Sean O’Hair and Jon Mills about working with “Foles” as they ... read more »

Interesting news coming from the PGA Championship, where the talk is that Canadian Sean Foley might start working as Tiger Woods’ swing coach, a rumor first reported here a couple of months ago:
Tiger Woods confirmed the possibility that he could begin working with swing coach Sean Foley, although to hear the world No. 1 say ... read more »

Interesting and very busy day at a warm RBC Canadian Open. First of all, in response to the blurb I wrote about a speed trap on Islington Ave. that pulled over a van with a player in it traveling to the range, turns out that player was Paul Azinger. And one driver told me Zinger ... read more »

Let’s start with me, since it is really all about me anyway. My column for Sympatico on great golf coursesmaking for great golf, is now online, along with some videos shot at St. George’s last month.
Word is that Hamilton Golf & CC members are voting on whether to hold the 2012 RBC Canadian Open. Hard ... read more »

There’s no Jordan or Costner, but George Lopez is expected to find Toronto this year — here are the names being linked to the Mike Weir Charity event on Monday of Canadian Open week:
The marquee group of celebrities from television, film, music and sports includes Samuel L. Jackson, George Lopez, Kevin Dillon, Tom Cochrane, 2010 ... read more »

My latest Sympatico column went live yesterday. Here’s a taste:
By the numbers Mike Weir shouldn’t have a lot of confidence heading into this week’s U.S. Open.
He’s struggled with his driver all year, finding fairways too infrequently to have any degree of success.
But Canada’s top golfer enters this week pleased with changes he’s made to his ... read more »

Canandian Tour Commissioner Rick Janes responded to my commentary on the “pro gap” white paper his organization published, taking particular affront to the notion that the Canadian Tour is in trouble. I’ve always had a lot of respect for Janes, and so I publish his remarks unedited.
Here is his response:
This started out to be a ... read more »

So the Canadian Tour has released a study documenting the so-called “pro gap,” that comes after Canada’s top golfers turn professional. The objective seems to be determining why the country doesn’t have more golfers competing at the top levels of the game. Currently there are only four Canadians (three home grown) competing on the PGA ... read more »

Interesting news this morning from Royal Bank, which is increasing its investment in golf, including investments in “Team Canada,” the RCGA’s national amateur golf teams, as well as adding support “to the resurgence of Canada’s national amateur golf championships.”
Here’s RBC’s chief brand officer on the annoucement:
We are proud to support the RCGAs vision to drive ... read more »
