Course: Goodwood Golf Club
Designer: Martin Ebert and Tom Mackenzie
(see preview of Goodwood from 2007)
It is a course without a name, a track that was first played by some in 2007, but has remained basically off-limits to everyone else for the past three years. It has seen hundreds of rounds – not thousands and that’s over ... read more »

Corey Pavin just announced his four captain’s picks — not surprisingly they include Tiger Woods, Stewart Cink, and Zach Johnson. Oh, and perhaps a little more surprising — rookie Rickie Fowler. Thoughts?
I think Johnson is a solid pick, and Cink has played well lately. Woods was a bit of a question mark, but has seen ... read more »

My latest Sympatico column went live over the weekend. In it I discuss the Ryder Cup selection — though I’ll admit I never thought of Charley Hoffman as a pick, though some think he is following his win yesterday. US Captain Corey Pavin will announce his picks this morning.
Here’s something to capture your interest:
Paul Casey ... read more »

SCOREGolf unveiled their Top 100 Courses in Canada on TSN on Saturday, but don’t be heading to your local club in hope of picking up a copy of the magazine. This year the publication is only available on newsstands — and I’m not sure if the magazine is putting content up online. There are a ... read more »

I’ve been hanging on the sidelines as others discussed SCOREGolf’s biennial ratings of Canadian courses. The list is floating around several spots online after the magazine was sent out early by accident. Anyway, if you’re keen on seeing me talk about the list, I’ll be on TSN tomorrow at noon, alongside SCORE editor Bob Weeks ... read more »

Spoke for a half hour with Mike Weir this afternoon. He sounded surprisingly upbeat, though I think some of that has to do with finally understanding what has been holding him back. Weir said he saw a doctor in Greensboro last Thursday after shooting 67 who urged him to shut it down for a few ... read more »

Given how well he’s played in the FedEx Cups to date, it is hard to imagine Mike Weir not even getting into the four-week event. But that’s exactly what has happened. And after talking about all the elbow problems he’s been having, Weir announced today that he’s torn a ligament in his elbow — suggesting ... read more »

I was meaning to write a teaser for SCOREGolf’s Top 100 courses in Canada issue that hits the streets on Aug. 30, largely because a week ago I taped the television special that will air on TSN on Aug. 29 to accompany the magazine.
Anyway, there was a bit of a mix-up and some of the ... read more »

The wind whistled and Mike Weir went home — again — from yet another golf tournament without playing the weekend. The Ottawa Sun’s Chris Stevenson is just about the only Canadian reporter at the PGA Championship, and he managed to get Weir to offer some real quotes about his struggles and the possibility of changing coaches:
“I can’t ... read more »
