You don’t see it very well on this photo from this morning — and I’ll try to get a better one once the players have gone through — but the 8th green at Shaughnessy, where the Canadian Open is being held, was hit with some sort of corrosive substance. It appeared that around 4 am someone took bleach or a similar substance and poured it in a couple of long lines on the green. PGA Tour officials moved today’s pin to deal with the damage, and the course superintendent is worried that the substance could spread and cause more widespread damage over time. Sources say they think the damage is the work of a former employee.
