Only one of these four has a win this year, Johnson at Colonial. Cink has three top tens all year and the last one in June. He’s also outside the top 50 in earnings this year. It’s shocking that the U.S. has so little depth that these players essentially made it by default, rather than by playing themselves in. You could argue that Cink or Fowler shouldn’t be there, but who would you put in their place? AK coming back from injury? Ryan Palmer? Lucas Glover? There isn’t a name that leaps out.

Funny how azinger goes out and changes rules to help the US win in future..by among other things…changing how many picks and when…they can be done.

so he has a chance to get a hot hand…does he take a palmer?no. how bout a hoffman who just won? no.
i get johnson….cink…he is just ok…woods..he doesnt even have a great career in ryder anyhow. he is a me person. good on his own.
will he step it up? likely.
but the fowler is baffling to me. why have a rule to take the hot guy and he takes someone very avg..with not one tour win..and only playing just ok lately..not lights out.
i like fowler and his style..but ryder cup? really?

this all just makes my rooting for euro that much easier.
