First Accenture, then Gillette pulls back and now AT&T is history — according to the AP:
NEW YORK “ AT&T says it will no longer sponsor Tiger Woods, joining Accenture and Gillette in dropping support for the golfer after numerous allegations of infidelities.
AT&T Inc.’s logo appeared on Woods’ golf bag, and he was the host of the AT&T National PGA event in July. The phone company says it will continue to sponsor the event.
AT&T did not comment on its reasons for dropping Woods, or how much the contract was worth. Woods has taken an indefinite leave from playing.
Which is pretty much what I expected in a column I wrote a few weeks back…

Maureen — I was raised in Dorchester, though I’ve lived in Toronto for the past 13 years. I didn’t play much golf until my twenties, but when I did, I played at a John Robinson design called Pine Knot. It is a flat, relatively uninspired layout with a couple of good holes and a real clunker at 17. However, if you hit the ball a long way, and liked to walk (I always felt those who took carts at the course, which might have had two feet of elevation change, should have been forced to pay more), it proved to be a good starting point.
These sponsors who are dropping TW are doing so because of the
public opinion polls or whatever else they are looking at.
IMHO, they will come clamouring back begging to be allowed to sponsor him again at the first event he plays in.
The TV ratings for his first tournament will be over the moon, and these guys will be wishing they had 20-20 hindsight.
BTW, some of the CEO’s and CFO’s of these corporations stood in line for bail out dollars and BONUSES, so I wonder where their morals really are.
At least we know, or think we do, where TW is sticking it.

I don’t know where you get your information, but it’s not accurate.
If you think Tiger Woods is going to return to his former glory, you don’t fully grasp the situation. This very well could be the end of Tiger Woods…..mark my words and this date.

I don’t appreciate TW’s “transgressions” or his fits of childish temper on the golf course, but we have not seen the last of him by a long shot.
