This afternoon I’m going to play Turnberry GC, the new sister course to Eagles Nest in Brampton.
It is an 18-hole course with only two par-4s. But before you call this an executive course, note that it was designed by Cam Tyer and Doug Carrick, the two men behind Eagles Nest. Specifically Tyers used hole concepts from places like National Golf Links, North Berwick West Links and others to create 16 very interesting par-3 greens. At $50 it’ll be interesting to see what kind of reception the course gets. It’ll be generally a walking course, and can likely be played in less than three hours, a time savings for many.
Anyway, I’ll bring my camera out today and take some shots and post a full commentary upcoming. In the meantime here’s a taste of the design concept, with a drawing by Tyers.
