A rumour had circulated for a while that Stephen Ames’ swing doctor, Sean Foley, who formerly headed up ClubLink’s academy at Glen Abbey, is off to Piper’s Heath, the new(ish) Graham Cooke design in Milton. Turns out it is true, as he confirmed in an e-mail to me:
I have left glen abbey and will be teaching at pipers heath in mississauga. No problems at glen abbey, it was just time for a change. Clublink was an excellent start to my career but I am moving in the direction of branding myself and I think the seperation from the clublink academy was necessary in moving forward with process.
Foley’s profile is certainly on the rise — and he surely likes the act of branding. He talks extensively with the media and has worked hard to expand his student list outside of just Ames. He works in the winter months in Florida with the Canadian Junior Golf Association Junior Golf Academy of Canada in
Foley took over at Glen Abbey when former director of instruction Tom Jackson left for Oslerbrook. Ryan Wilson, the new head pro at Piper’s Heath, said Foley is bringing along a few other instructors as well.

Hey TS, I just noticed your response to my earlier question about your opinion of Golf Canada magazine.
Of course the magazine deals with RCGA related issues…it’s a magazine for RCGA members…it’s not a general trade magazine a la Score, Golf Digest, etc.
Thanks Matt- I’m an RCGA member as well so I get it…it just find it boring and would rather reads articles about non-rcga matters. Magazines like Score cover our player’s (jr, am, pro, industry, etc) but expand on the Canadian golf landscape (without bias) where Golf Can would not. Again, just my opinion….
