I’ll be heading all over Canada for the next month working on my book, Going for the Green: Canada’s Leaders on the Links. I’ll be checking out Victoria, where I’ll finally see Royal Colwood, one of the final remaining good to great courses in Canada that I haven’t seen. I’ll also see Bear Mountain, Olympic View and Victoria GC. Then it is off to Vancouver to see Nicklaus North (again) for my golf series, with CN chair David McLean.
That is followed by a couple of days upcoming in Montreal, to see Mount Bruno again (for the book) and Royal Montreal (for Score Golf). Then it is off to Newfoundland to play with the premier, and jet over to Humber Valley, the new Doug Carrick course that looks like it could be quite special. Upon my return I grab a seat on Westjet and head for Cowtown, playing golf with Ralph Klein, and seeing Stewart Creek for the first time, along with the second course now being built by Gary Browning. Along the way I’ll drop by Banff and Kananaskis, before returning for the Canadian Open at Angus Glen.
But it doesn’t stop there — then I jet off to PEI with IMG to play with executive director Brad Pelletier, and wrap things up with a trip to Nova Scotia to see Ron Joyce and Frank McKenna. Then I’ll stop to catch my breath. Well, at least that’s the plan.
So prepare for this blog to become a dialogue about what I’m seeing and hearing from across Canada. It’ll be a trip, that’s for sure.
