Going for the Green

Robert Thompson's comments, criticism and opinion on the world of golf.

Golfontario.ca launches new site, blogs

Golfontario.ca, the home of OG, a magazine I’ve written for since 2000, has relaunched its website after two years of downtime. And yes, there’s a blog component. Everyone wants to be part of the bandwagon, and thankfully there is room.

Editor Teddy “Ballgame” McIntyre has his own blog, and though it isn’t clear what the quick swinging right hander is going to talk about — or where he’s going to find the time — this part of the site could have potential. Ted has lots of opinions, so expect something fun.

He’s also got former Rich Beem caddy Steve Duplantis writing — though one has to wonder how long it will take for Duplantis to get lost in a drunken haze, hook up with John Daly and marry another stripper. Oh, and that’s pretty much what his first blog is about. The second blog will come, well, surely sometime before October. As a columnist, Duplantis was as regular as an aged Scotsman who dined regularly on cheese while sporting an irregular bowel. In other words, he can be a bit tardy.

There are also a couple of other blogs on the site and a bunch of OG content — including a worthwhile piece from last year on the best value golf in Ontario.

Excuse me?! Who does this guy think he is having such an uncalled for, gratuitous pop at Steve Duplantis? Also, can he explain the Scotsman/cheese reference please? I’m Scottish and haven’t a clue what he’s on about. Has had a few drinks too many perhaps?
