The 2017 RBC Canadian Open got underway Thursday amid rainy skies in Oakville, Ontario.

A lush Glen Abbey Golf Club yielded many low scores throughout the day with soft conditions.

17 Canadians are in the field this week trying to be the first to claim an open title by a Canadian since Pat Fletcher did it in 1954. Mackenzie Hughes was the low Canadian on day 1 after posting an early -5 score, but tour winners Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor were among a group of Canadians giving chase.

A special feature this week at Glen Abbey is The Rink – the par-3 7th hole has been re-imagined as a hockey rink to commemorate Canada’s love affair with hockey, as part of our 150th anniversary celebrations in 2017. #therink #canada150
